Meet Dr. Griffin
For more than 40 years, Dr. Gary Griffin has been caring for smiles in the Louisville community. A 1985 graduate of the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, he began his career practicing at Baptist East Hospital before eventually moving to St. Matthews. Through the years, the location and name of the practice have evolved, but his approach to dentistry has remained deeply personal-listen carefully, keep learning, and treat every guest with the same thoughtfulness and respect you would want for yourself.
Experience, Curiosity & a Genuine Love for Dentistry
Always Learning. Always Evolving.
Dr. Griffin believes experience is most valuable when it’s paired with curiosity. Throughout his career, he has continued to study advances in dentistry, technology, and techniques that can make care more precise, comfortable, and effective. He thoughtfully incorporates new approaches when they offer a meaningful benefit to his guests, while never losing sight of the fundamentals that come from decades of clinical experience.
Looking at the Bigger Picture
Dr. Griffin’s approach to dentistry goes beyond treating individual teeth. He believes oral health and overall health are closely connected, and that understanding those connections can help guests make better-informed decisions about their care. This whole-health perspective is an important part of the philosophy behind Griffin Dental Health & Wellness.
Before the Dental Office, There Was the Radio Studio
Long before he was known to generations of guests as their dentist, Dr. Griffin could also be found behind a microphone. While attending dental school, he worked as a radio DJ at WQMF and WKLO in Louisville. His love of music has stayed with him through the years and remains one his favorite interests inside and outside of the dental office.
Outside the Office
Away from dentistry, Dr. Griffin enjoys music, history, trains, dogs, and spending time learning the game of golf with his wife, Lana. Whether he’s exploring a piece of history, listening to Pink Floyd, or working on his golf swing, his curiosity and love of learning tend to follow him wherever he goes.
Dentistry Across Generations
One of the greatest privileges of Dr. Griffin’s career has been the opportunity to care for guests over many years-and, in some cases, multiple generations of the same family. Those long-standing relationships are a meaningful part of why he continues to enjoy dentistry after more than four decades. For Dr. Griffin, dentistry has never been only about caring for teeth. It’s about caring for the people who trust him with their smiles.
